- Clean the motorcycle windshield when it is cool – never wash it after it has been heated by the sun or riding (temperature differences can cause micro-cracks or streaks). It’s best to do this in the shade, at room temperature.
- Use microfiber – the best choice is a soft and clean microfiber cloth with a high GSM (prevents scratches).
- Do not use harmful chemical substances (acetone, solvents, gasoline) or any liquids containing alcohol (such as household glass cleaners!). These agents can cause clouding of the fairing and permanent damage.
- Use dedicated cleaners for plastics – products for cleaning plexiglass, polycarbonate, or acrylic are available on the market. Milder antistatic fluids should also be safe.
- For heavy dirt, the windshield should be pre-soaked – recommended in the case of dried insects or mud. You can apply a damp microfiber cloth to the surface of the windshield or completely soak it for a few minutes in warm water with a mild dishwashing liquid. This way, you avoid having to scrub dirt “by force.”
